For the past n years, Christmas in our house has failed Filipino standards.
No Christmas tree/s, limited decorations and no overflowing anticipation. Everyone has grown too busy to worry about all the preparations. I can’t believe that when I was young, I thought Christmas was a different special time, where everyone had no choice but to enjoy.
To save the Christmas left in myself, someone gifted me a 2-feet tall, anorexic Christmas tree.

Its so cheap (she proudly shared the receipt) that I can’t help but think she only paid for the air in between the few ‘leaves’. The balls were even cheaper.
Well, Christmas is here. Hope for the best, expect the worst.
PS: I do not like how I sound such a party-pooper here.
Some hear the word Philippines and immediately hallucinate of lush, tropical nature bathing in sunlight.
Unfortunately though, Typhoon Juan braved the jungles of my country and I have been showering in the rain every afternoon since Saturday. I just don’t enjoy the rain while travelling from school to home. Its like running on a desert naked.

I’m really proud of PAGASA, the government agency in charge of seeing storms or whatever natural phenomenas hours before reality does. I think they have done their job well and even thought the mortality count deviated from zero, its all because of disobedience and not the lack of information. I guess there will never be a time that Filipinos, being heavily diverse, will agree upon an idea simultaneously.

Actually, I have no right to rant about the weather. The typhoon’s radius didn’t reach my patch of land. If the Philippines was a compass, the typhoon hit North. I was somewhere near the midpoint of the compass, housed by a battered umbrella. I’m really far away from the true disaster. Good ol’ luck to those who were heavily hit by the typhoon! I bet you will forget all about this in the next municipal fiesta so just stand right back up and move on. We are Filipinos, remember?
I just activated the Tumblr app in my Facebook account.
Even Raimund, the lead and rythm guitarists of Sandwich agree and are very happy to see my Tumblr posts update on my FB!

Immortalized hope. Can you see hope in this young man’s eyes?
